Doris was born in Weir, Texas on July 2, 1926, to Fritz and Clara Muske Merkord.
Doris is survived by her son Alfred Kosik and his wife Doris of Round Rock, Texas. She is also survived by 4 grandchildren: Justin Kosik and wife Nicki of California; Amber Woods and husband Alex of Houston; Mackenzie Clarno and husband Kevin of Tennessee, and Jason Porter and wife Tiffany of Frisco, Texas.

Doris was born in Weir, Texas on July 2, 1926, to Fritz and Clara Muske Merkord.
Doris is survived by her son Alfred Kosik and his wife Doris of Round Rock, Texas. She is also survived by 4 grandchildren: Justin Kosik and wife Nicki of California; Amber Woods and husband Alex of Houston; Mackenzie Clarno and husband Kevin of Tennessee, and Jason Porter and wife Tiffany of Frisco, Texas.
Doris is also survived by 10 great grandchildren, Nicholas Kosik of California; Grant, Charlie, Drew and Lucy Clarno of Tennessee; Gracie Louise and Grady Woods of Houston, Texas; Austin, Jackson and Amanda Porter of Frisco, Texas. She is also survived by a sister, Hattie Lange of Temple, Texas and a brother-in-law, Leon Tieman of Taylor, Texas. Doris is also survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews and family and many many friends.
Doris was preceded in death by her husband Hans Kosik after 51 years of marriage and her parents Fritz and Clara Merkord, Sister Frieda Gilbreath and Brother Arthur Merkord.
Doris was baptized on August 29, 1926 at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Walburg, TX by Pastor John W. Bergner. She was confirmed at St. Peter Church on April 6, 1941 by Pastor W.W. Laurback, who also married Hans and Doris on February 13, 1944 at St. Peter's.
Doris was a faithful member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Taylor, Texas since March, 1944. She served as a Sunday school teacher for a number of years and loved to volunteer in the church office. Quite often Doris also attended bible study and church services at St. John's Lutheran church in Thrall, Texas.
Doris was educated at Palacky School (near Granger, Texas) and also at Jonah school. She grew up on a farm and also lived on a farm after Hans and she were married. Hans and Doris moved to Thrall in 1967 where she continued to live after his death. Doris worked at the Thrall school lunch room for 12 years, the University of Texas in Austin for 4 years and the Intercraft factory for 8 years.
Doris was also a very active member of the Thrall Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary.
Pallbearers are: Richard Adams, Charles DeWitt, Robert Fuessel, Megan Gersback, Herman Kaase, Danny Merkord, Tommy Pausewang, and Jimmy Phillips.
Honorary pallbearers are: Jerry Fleming, Willie Herzer, Dennis Werchan and the members of the Thrall Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary. Viewing-will be Friday, October 14, 2016,from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Condra Funeral Home , Services will be Saturday, October 15, 2016, at 2:00 pm at Condra Funeral Home Chapel with burial services at the Taylor City cemetery
